The state of Utah prohibits the act of gambling. In fact, the state of Utah strictly prohibits gambling facilities in any form whatsoever, including casinos, pari-mutuel facilities, lotteries, and further prohibits electronic forms of gaming. Thus, both the residents of Utah and tourists visiting the state will have to visit any number of Utah?s neighboring states if they want to gamble.

Poker in Utah

Poker can be played in the state of Utah if the game is played for entertainment purposes only. Unfortunately, once money is involved, poker is deemed illegal and the participants are subjected to legal consequences. Such consequences can result in fines and seizure of monies and property.

The laws of Utah affirm that if anyone partakes in gambling or encourages the practice of gambling, such individuals are deemed guilty of a Class B misdemeanor. Further, anyone who is convicted of gambling, more that one time, is automatically guilty of a Class A misdemeanor. Again, such laws also stress that any monies won from the act of gambling or the act of encouraging such activity is to be immediately seized; such a law also states that any gambling devices are directly subject to seizure by the state of Utah.

Despite the fact that gambling is illegal in Utah, Utah residents and tourists can visit anyone of the states surrounding Utah if they desire to gamble. For example, over 50 casinos are located in Montana; over 45 casinos are in Colorado; over 20 casinos are in New Mexico, and several casinos are located in Wyoming. Plus, tourists and Utah residents can find well over 350 casinos in the state of Nevada and over 10 casinos in Idaho.

Just because gambling is not permitted in the state of Utah, it does not mean that the state is not a lovely site to visit. In fact, the state of Utah has some pretty fantastic tourist attractions. Tourists might want to consider visiting the Seven Peaks Water Park in Provo and the Pioneer Memorial Museum in Salt Lake City. Or, if tourists are looking for musical entertainment, they may want to see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City, Utah. Also, for those tourists who love to ski, such individuals may find the Brighton Ski Resort and the Alta Ski Resort of Utah to their liking! Finally, a visit to Cathedral of Madeline in Salt Lake City, Utah can round out a tourist?s schedule and expose them to some significant architecture in the state!

Lodging near gambling in Utah

Lodging is fairly easy to obtain in the state of Utah; in fact there are over thirty major hotels in Utah that are located throughout Provo, Moab, Lake Powell, Park City, Cedar City, Bryce Canyon, Monument Valley, and Salt Lake City. Further, such hotels do all that they can to cater to the needs of their visitors and offer a variety of additional services for their customers to enjoy; in fact, some hotels even allow family pets, and a number of hotels offer meeting facilities.
